Dewstow Gardens and Grottos

25 minutes away. “A labyrinth of underground grottoes, tunnels and sunken ferneries. The rock gardens are made up of a mixture of real stone and faced stone using various forms of Pulhamite. A rediscovered Edwardian Wonderland. Open 10 am – 3.30 pm.

High Glanau

15 minutes away. Another Arts and Crafts garden  – Avray Tipping’s own home garden, restored by Helena Gerrish, also author of  ‘Edwardian Country Life – the story of H Avray Tipping’. National Gardens Scheme

Tredegar House

40 minutes away. Unusual restored  18th century formal gardens. I like them, but not fashionable..

10 minutes away  Ruined, I’m afraid. Tintern is also the home of the famous Tintern Philosophy Circle.

Chepstow Castle

12 minutes away  History! One of the oldest castles in Castle ridden Wales.

Wye Valley
