Surprise! Another post already. We have the globes!
They are the replacement for the trees which we sadly had to let go of. Remember? – here.
We consulted you and the globes had it. (see here – and on Facebook, of course)
There was a great deal of searching for the materials (even a quote from China..) and a long wait for it all to arrive (including the mystery fixings for globe to post)
O – and just for the record (Charles always forgets this bit..) – it was my design. (now you know who to blame)
Then came the day: and Charles and Jeff (and Billy)
At this point I must say a special thank you to Primrose, who were kind and flexible enough to let us buy the globes separately from the water feature they properly belonged to. Without their kindness this whole thing would not have been possible.
And – your reward, as ever (sigh) – the flower pic!
PHEW!!!
Atready told Charles I thought this to be f—— brilliant, further proof here. Unique. inspired.
Thank you!!! Xxxxxx
Wow, we love the globes! They look awesome.
Wow! Thanks Xxxxx
Love the globes! Good job!
Thank you, Susan, great to hear. Xxx
Absolutely beautiful!!!!! Wish I could see them, I will be in England in August, but will have to stay close to Surrey as my sister is not at all well. I am over a stroke and cancer and feeling fine, Getting the garden started with a rock garden and a doubling of the herb garden.
True, that’s a little too far away: unless your sister is better by then. (I hope) Xxx
how utterly gorgeous, can’t wait to see them in real life
They’re intended especially to have that effect on you! Xxxxx
My son (Jeff) was telling me about this last week, must say they look bloomin marvellous & not as I had imagined. Margaret
He thinks they’re bizarre, Margaret. He clearly didn’t inherit your good taste! Xxx
Absolutely FABULOUS! Congratulations. The view down the path from the birdbath is stunning.
Thanks, Pat! Xxx
Hooray! I love them! Fun and kind of formal at the same time.
Yes – that’s a great description – thank you. Xx
Just wonderful. Must come and see them.
O yes, do! Xxx
well done! I love the varying heights and proportions, all well balanced visually, those bright reflections will lighten the dullest day…just try not to look at yourself!!
That’s the trick…glad you approve! Xxxx
Oh, Anne, what a tremendous contribution the globes are to the garden. In fact probably more arresting than the trees. And yes I agree they should definitely be referred to as Globes. I must get to see them in the flesh one day when my peripatetic life allows it.
Good idea. Xxx
*Looks for superlative that hasn’t already been used. Has perhaps unfair advantage.*
Bendigedig!
??? John, you are too oscure! xx
Bendigedig – am now illuminated! Great word!!! Xxxx
What fun!
They look very good. Proportions are perfect. Brilliantly done.
Thank you. Love the ‘globes’ thought – though maybe spheres will have in in tribute to your father…Xxx
You must be so pleased with this outcome – it’s always a little nerve wracking embarking on any major project.
Love the way you call the balls ‘globes’. Out family used to say ‘Balls!’ whenever things didn’t go to plan. My dad decided he’d had enough of that and so banned us from doing so and so ‘Balls’ was replaced with ‘Spheres!’ And continues to be till this day!
Looking forward to visiting this summer.
Very futuristic looking design in my opinion. Love the globes. Have you thought of adding some sort of paving to the walkway? My immediate thought is that tihs will go perfectly with natural stone paving slabs, in any of the colours I found on here https://primethorpepaving.co.uk/paving/sandstone.html
Nice idea and good link, but we are now a little short of funds for further development. And I think a focal point at the end is needed sooner?
Yes, a new and more prominent focal point at the end is needed. Can’t wait to see what you and Charles will decide on.
Me too!
Wow…. just WOW!
(I was gonna say the first thing to pop into my head, “Bendigedig”, but John beat me to it! ahhhh… not really…. had to look it up!)
O, blimey! That’s what it means!!!!
It looks very beautiful. I wish I will do the same in my own garden. This article will be very helpful on that time.
Keep up the good posting, Anne.
Thanks
