We had two German events this week. The first was the publication of an interview with me. Useful for anyone not already bored stiff by my opinions. It was published in German and English – the English version is here.
The website is Grunes Blut, (Green Blood) and more interesting interviews, which Google will have a stab at translating for you, can be found here.
The second was Charles having a feature published in a German magazine: a 12 pager!!!! (that’s big in the photographer’s world) See above for the magazine. It’s a feature on Les Jardins d’Etretat.
Here is the magazine on Instagram.
And here are the pages, but you must realise these are snapshots which don’t do justice one little bit to the actual, brilliant, photographs. These are just to give you a glimpse.
What is biggest perhaps for me is the Gardens Illustrated turned this piece down because they believe their readers are more interested in plants than a garden like this. Is this true, do you think?
Well, you lot are not very different when it comes down to it are you? Have to have your flower pic. Well, here’s sophistication for you (really because I love this picture and I took it) – bracken just breaking.. (good, isn’t it? But Charles is better at it, truly)
Wunderbar!!! Alles gute zum Geburtstag! I only remember one more phrase in German that I can put out there for polite company – Fixa, donnerwetter noch mal!!
Something about the weather?????
That looks like a substantial article – I hope it is the start of something new for both Charles and those who are interested in more than just plants.
That would be good. But unlikely!?
Anne, I hope everyone will read your interview in Grunes Blut — you and the interviewer cover some vital points for all of us who love plants and love gardens that have more than plants to offer.
Charles’s photos of Les Jardins d’Etretat make it clear that it is a garden to visit and study. Wish I could see it tomorrow!
Yes – Charles really enjoyed d’Etretat. He somehow managed to overlook the terrible lack of flowers….(!)
How interesting, I think readers of Gardens Illustrated would be interested in both plants and garden design, I certainly am, but I don’t read the mag.
But maybe not design with no plants? (except hedging, of course) No-one conceives of anyone being interested in a garden unless they are a gardener and can window shop.
