South Garden – Hosta Walk

Hosta sieboldiana var ‘elegans’ and ‘Halcyon’, with symphytum ‘Hidcote Blue’ and nectaroscordum bulgaricum.

These last are the flowers that hostas really ought to have, and hostas have the leaves that the nectaroscordum ought to have, so they suit each other nicely. I like this quiet massing, but I understand from a nearby nursery person that many people find a border without lots of different varieties boring (not half as boring as I find those obsessive plant collectors…)
